The Department of Environmental Engineering has modern facilities, including office, classroom, and laboratories. The department accommodates total of 5 major research laboratories and 1 student laboratory for education.
1. Student Laboratory
Basic experimental facilities are available for undertaking environmental experiments and other analysis work routinely made in environmental engineering and sciences. This laboratory is used for Environmental Chemistry, Microbiology, Unit Processes courses.
2. Water and Wastewater Laboratory
The research in this lab is directed toward understanding microbial activities in natural and engineered systems as well as modifying microbial activities to yield environmentally beneficial results in biodegradation. This laboratory has basic facilities and infrastructure required for environmental biotechnology. Typical researches are methane potential analyses, treatability studies, granulation, production of renewable energy from wastes.
3. Environmental Microbiology Laboratory
The activities of the Microbiology Laboratory include a diverse array of operational, research, and development support to undergraduate and graduate courses about microbial activities in natural and engineered systems as well as modifying microbial activities. This laboratory has basic facilities and infrastructure required for environmental microbiology.
4. Instrumental Analysis Laboratory
Instrumental analysis laboratory is commonly used for graduate studies and researches. This lab is equipped with basic instrumental analysis equipments including Gas chromatographs, Total organic carbon analyzer, Total nitrogen analyzer and U.V. Visible spectrophotometer.
5. Soil Pollution and Ground Water Control Laboratory
This lab is mainly used for the analysis and characterization of soil and ground water samples (e.g., metal contents, pH, soil moisture, salt content, textural classifications and electrical conductivity). Typical researches are heavy metal pollution, heavy metal treatability studies and adsorption experiments for soil and ground water samples.
6. Air Pollution Control Laboratory
This lab is equipped with the instruments for sampling and analysis of various air pollutant. The researchs in this lab is related to characterization of indoor and outdoor air pollution/control and evaluate the fate, transport, and chemical transformations of indoor and outdoor pollutants.
